Spotlight on Jeff: DCM's physiotherapist

It all began when Jeff, a physiotherapist working in the building next door, heard DCM’s daily morning waiata. Not long after, he learned about DCM’s mahi (work) through one of his patients, who happened to work at DCM.
With Jeff’s desire to help and the support of Tiaki Physio and Pilates, we’ve been able to provide free, weekly physio sessions for our whānau for the past six years.

Many are surprised to hear that DCM provides physiotherapy, but it is an essential healthcare service. As Jeff explains, the whānau he sees often sleep on hard ground, day in and day out, carry heavy belongings, while also facing ongoing health challenges.

No two days at DCM are the same. It’s always interesting, and you never know who will walk through the door. Over the years, Jeff has seen that homelessness can affect people from all walks of life, some who’ve come from privilege, and others from the complete opposite. Hearing their stories has reminded him not to take anything for granted.
