The landlords helping solve the housing crisis
Matthew Ryan has been in the news a lot lately – often referred to as a ‘mega landlord’, what may surprise many is that Matthew is helping solve New Zealand’s housing crisis by providing properties to DCM’s Aro Mai Housing First team.
Mon has been supporting DCM for many years – in our Foodbank, at the DCM Bookfair, and as a regular donor. Here she shares her story.

Mary is a GP and a keen photographer who has volunteered her time and skill to support DCM from time to time with photo shoots. Arriving at Hapi’s whare, she realised that she had met him – and photographed him – before!
DCM's 50th birthday photo exhibition
To mark DCM’s 50th birthday, we held a photo exhibition featured 50 images – one for each of the years that DCM had been working to “focus on the needs of, and to help empower, those marginalised in the city”. You can view all 50 photos here.
DCM’s very special landlords, Kaye and Maurice Clark, have provided DCM with a long-term home in Lukes Lane, Te Aro. Here we have the spaces we need to support people experiencing homelessness – from dental and medical rooms to the special space which is Te Hāpai. They share our vision of ending homelessness in our city and support DCM in many different ways.
