Wellington is my home and DCM is a vital hub for Street people.”

People like J, who has made huge changes in his life with support from people like you.
“I’ve got this whare (house) through DCM, which was beautiful. Throughout my life of being through transitional housing, it’s been very unsettling. Now I’m safe, I’m secure, I can raise my son here and that’s the beauty of it.” - J
Plan for the future
For Joyce*, leaving a gift to DCM is an important way to ensure her support for our community lives on, and there will continue to be support networks for people experiencing homelessness.
“For me, it’s something that says you continue to do good. If I don’t need it anymore, why not get it to do something good when I’m gone.
“I've got a supportive whanau. I've got a house. I've got a job. Some people, for lots of different reasons, do not. There’s no one to be their voice, so I support a voice for them and services that support them.”
Joyce’s decision to take the step from supporting DCM to including us in her estate plans was also about providing surety to her loved ones when the time comes.
“It makes my intentions clear and means there’s no second guessing or extra stress for my whānau about my wishes.”
Because of people like Joyce, and people like you, essential services and support into long-term housing will be available for whānau experiencing or at risk of homelessness for generations to come.
